2010 is off to a bang, already this fine techno nation has seen Ben Sims, Joton, Kike Pravada, Adam Beyer and Paul Woolford. And some great gigs have been confirmed.

I have been in the studio full time and have confirmed more releases on Kamikaze, Gobsmacked and TMM records; Including a remix for Naked Lunch owner A. Paul. Check my soundcloud and Gobsmackedrecords.com for more info.

Also check the events section in the magazine for upcoming gigs, I have the pleasure of playing at the Irishclubbing.ie get together on the 5th of March in the Stables, Mullingar, other Dj's on the night include Justiy, Filtroniks, Millhouse, Rollie, Fiontann G and Discosucks.

For a change I will be featuring Delay Techno with Techno Files including an interview with Stuart Kelso aka Kelsa, one of the founders of the club night. Up coming nights for Delay include Bas Mooy(If you want to read a very interesting interview with the Rotterdam man check past issues).

Answered by: Stuart Kelso aka Kelsa

How did Delay techno start?

We were brought together by a mutual friend of ours in 2008 and started to organise nights here in Dublin. There were more of us from the beginning, but people dropped out and now Delay is run by two members; Kelsa and Jovi. The first year was on a residents only basis as we tried to build a regular crowd and refine our sound. With every gig we learnt more about our crowd and by April 2009 we decided to take the logical progression and start bringing international guests.

What venues have you held nights in?

We started off by organising our night in The Cavern and alternating to Radiocity when we has guests. But that venue went bust in the summer 2009, which was a shame at the time because we liked the vibe that could be created in the cavern. For our DEAF show in October we moved our night to The Underground @ Kennedys. Which is where we still reside today.

Tell me more about your gig on the 20th of february?

Well, we have Audio Assault label boss Bas Mooy over, with support from his Diablo Diezco partner Charlton. Which is a bit of a coup for us as Bas Mooy stock has never been higher than it is at the moment. Charlton has also had a few notable releases of late. So both the guys are at the top of their game. We are all looking forward to this one as none of us have seen the guys live and to my knowledge it's irish debuts for both of them. Further support on the night will come from Jon Hussey who's been busy on the european circuit of late and also our own residents Jovi and Adam Kelly. Entry on the night will be e15 e10 for students and OAPS. We do advise anyone who's planning on coming to get down early because it's going to be jammers.

What other Dj's/Liveacts have you had over? & What do you look for in a techno artist?

We started the ball rolling with Patrik Skoog, following with one of our favorite dj/producers Inigo Kennedy. We had to take an unplanned break then when Radiocity died. But came back with a bang then for our DEAF show with Grovskopa. Since then there has been a bit of a spanish flavour to proceedings with Exium treating us to a superb live show in December and in January we had Joton and Kike Pravda. All three of which deserve much higher exposure than the currently receive. We also had Tony Adamson and Joel Sutcliffe who belong to the mighty Detatched stable in Leeds. And not to forget Dublins finest Sunil Sharpe. We are very careful when making a booking everything has to be right. All of our dj's so far belong to what I regard as Nu Skool techno artists, forward thinking with a refined sound. Dark, tough and industrial. But above all else dj's we know are gonna tear the roof off.

What does the future hold for Delay techno?

Since January 2010, we have combined forces Technotic as we did for our DEAF show. A techno alliance so to speak! We figured since we are organising the same kind of gigs with the same kind of acts, we can organise better nights if we do it together and you can see the result yourself since Grovskoa, Joton & Kike Pravda and Bas Mooy are gigs that we have teamed up for. So we started the year the way we mean to continue more groundbreaking nights and as many Irish debuts as we can possibly manage. We want to keep things as fresh as possible.

And a mix from one of the residents for your listening pleasure from Jovi.
